    Solenoid Operated Clutch/Brake Package

    Features:

  • 2500 lb-in torque
  • 1/2o accuracy in stopping
  • Shaft speeds to 300 rpm
  • Stop adjustment per maintenance instructions
  • Approximate 3 million cycles before re-lubrication is required
  • Output over-travel to brake approximately 30o
  • No cumulative error
  • Requires anti-rotation mounting (do not mount rigidly)
  • Disengaged while power is off

  • For use on heavy duty industrial equipment with a continuous rotary power source requiring cycling or indexing, Crossover Drive's heavy duty industrial CBP-8 clutch features a single spring construction for clutching and braking. This eliminates the need for fine adjustments which tend to drift during constant cycling. There is also an anti-back spring with prevents the output from reversing. These clutches have been specifically designed for use on heavy-duty industrial equipment with a continuous rotating power source requiring cycling or indexing. The clutch members are hardened steel and the two-piece construction (clutch-actuator) lends itself to periodic inspection and lubrication without removing the solenoid mounting and actuator. The actuator lever is powdered metal operating against a plastic release sleeve for quite operation.

    Operation

With input rotating, pulse the solenoid. The main spring wraps down and clutches the input to the output, thus driving the load one revolution. After one revolution, the release sleeve is stopped by a solenoid operated lever, thus stopping the input end of the main spring. The output inertia causes the output to continue its rotation which expands the main spring until it seats against the I.D. of the brake collar and the output, thus braking the output. At this point, the input is completely disengaged and allowed to turn freely.

While the output is being driven, the anti-back spring is overrunning. When the output is braked, it has a tendency to reverse but the anti-back spring then clutches and locks the output in both directions. To start another cycle, simply pulse the solenoid.
